Celebration is … somatic healing. Putting my awareness on the physical sensations of emotional energy in my body is so much more productive than looping in my head. Acceptance, intuitive wisdom and relief are palpable then.
11th day of the Jewish month of Sivan – the month of Celebration
Celebration is … resiliency and courage. Bethany Hamilton describes herself as a wife, a mom and then a surfer. This amazing Wonder Woman got back on her surf board 26 days after getting attacked by a 14 foot Tiger shark and losing her whole arm when she was only 13 years old. No victim mentality there. I stub my toe and I’m down for the count 🙂 This woman not only gets right back on the waves, but surfs the waters of life with grace and courage. Wow!
10th day of the Jewish month of Sivan – the month of Celebration
Celebration is … surviving terror attacks. I sit around every Friday night, eating a Shabbos meal with family and friends who have survived terror attacks. My husband was attacked with a knife when jogging in Jerusalem 20+ years ago and was rescued by police before the terrorist could stab him. Friends from Belgium had their house set on fire a few years ago by terrorists and thank G-d, smelled the smoke before they were engulfed in flames. And the other friends have been accosted verbally and lost many loved ones in India and in Israel from terrorist attacks and scud missiles. Different continents, same enemy, same reason – they are Jews. And now others are experiencing the same treatment. When will it end?
9th day of the Jewish month of Sivan – the month of Celebration
Celebration is … planting seeds and flowers and watering and watching the Divine do the rest. All of our life works like this – kids, health, career, relationships, internal growth etc. I like to ask the Divine that it’s with ease and joy and that I hear the whispers of my soul in guiding my path.
8th day of the Jewish month of Sivan – the month of Celebration
Celebration is … what’s yet to come. Just finished the Jewish holiday of Shavuos which celebrates the receiving of the Torah 3300 years ago. Until that time, the upper worlds could not descend and the physical world could not ascend. Upon Hashem (G-d) giving the Torah, the spirituality awakening and reality that took place allowed for the concealed worlds and the revealed worlds to meet. Materiality has had the ability to be elevated, therefore accomplishing the refinement of the physical world (though this refinement is not quite completely visible to our eyes yet, but we are told by Jewish sages, especially the Rebbe who is a prophet that this reality has been accomplished and it is up to us to ‘open our eyes’ to see it). When we have the complete revelation of divine essence (kabbalistic term is Geula), the spiritual and physical will not be distinct from each other, but will be merged as one. As it says in Yeshayah 66:22 “As the new heavens and the new earth that I am making, stand before Me, says G-d.” At that time we will all see that all of existence is that “I-G-d-am making” at every moment – meaning our eyes will see the Divine energy of each thing in creation sustaining it at every moment. Cool! I’m ready for that 🙂
7th day of the Jewish month of Sivan – the month of Celebration
Celebration is …getting out of G-d’s business. I have so many ‘shoulds’ and ‘shouldn’ts’ for G-d in my trying to run the world. When I do my spiritual work which sometimes includes Byron Katie’s Thought Work, I get out of G-d’s way and my own. It’s freeing and something to celebrate!
5th day of the Jewish month of Sivan – the month of Celebration
Celebration is … over a year of posting monthly thoughts. This one came up on Facebook and I love the reminder: Healing is … asking myself the question “what could be more important?” when I’m spending time with a loved one. This question helps me be mindful that the present moment with this person is the most important thing I could be doing. “What could be more important than looking in a child’s eyes when she is speaking? What could be more important than being with a friend? What could be more important than checking in with a loved one?” When I find my mind wandering to other worries and to-do lists, this question helps me stay focused on the truth that there is nothing more important than this time of connection with another. 21st day of the Jewish month of Iyar – the month of Healing
4th day of the Jewish month of Sivan – the month of Celebration
Celebration is … bribing my kids with chocolate cereal for breakfast if they go to sleep at a good time when my husband and I need to go out. Works every time ?They’re happy and I’m happy that they get the sleep they need.
