Miracles.
Miracles are … the theme of the new Jewish month of Kislev. This month contains the miraculous holiday of Chanukah which took place a really long time ago in the year 139 BCE. The mystical energy of Chanukah infuses this time period year after year. It is an energy of miracles, of courage, of the power of light over darkness and of the victory of the spirit over the physical. It is the energy of the miracles of the few over the many, the ‘weak’ over the ‘strong’, and the spiritual over the natural.
Even on this 1st day of the Jewish month of Kislev in 2008, there was an incredible miracle and an act of bravery from a woman with a heart. Foreign terrorists in Mumbai, India cruelly attacked a Jewish religious center (Chabad house). The Rabbi and Rebbetzin’s young 2 year old son sat crying over his parent’s slain bodies. When his nanny, Sandra Samuel, who had been hiding in the basement, overheard his cries, she ran up the stairs and grabbed him at a risk to her life. She rushed out of the building thereby saving him. They were flown to Israel where she continued to help raise him with his broken-hearted grandparents and is still a substantial influence on his life. This was truly a miracle (article below).
