Freedom is Modesty
Freedom is … modesty. I never thought that modesty could be something that feels freeing, but when I crossed paths with mystical Judaism in my twenties, a whole new paradigm shift happened for me. I explored what modesty was according to the Hebrew tradition and discovered the beauty of freedom within being modest – not just in dress, but in speech, and in behavior. The Hebrew word is ‘tzniut’ and is translated as privacy, hiddenness. In Judaism, it is a value that applies to both men and women. It is the concept that what is precious, sacred, and holy is treated as such – with dignity rather than brashness, with respect rather than shame, with preciousness rather than casualness. It is the gentleness and grace of all things. I’m sharing the link to an article in the comments below which explain the beauty and depth of the Jewish concept of modesty and in particular its relationship to the feminine.
